While
in USA, I visited Atlantic City, famous for Casinos and night life and parties,
along with my friends. Our actual plan was to return from there at 11 pm
but once reached there, my friends changed their mind, and we were there till
1.30 am next day. If I had not taken a stern stand, they would have ended up
spending the whole night there. Unfortunately, they all had stopped
talking to me thereafter because they felt I am a country fellow not worthy
enough to make friendship. New generation is great but still a notice can be
seen pasted on the wall just above gent's urinals like 'Don't spit chewing gum
in the urinals' even in big IT companies where these new generation techies are
working. Indians, whether old or young, lack self discipline. They spit and
piss in public places and then shout against the systems for not cleaning it!
Sorry, I diverted
a bit from the actual topic. My friends cannot be blamed because the atmosphere
there was such that even those who are not interested in night parties and Casinos
will be tempted to spend maximum time there, Atlantic City is one of the best
places on earth for that. My friends were all young and getting tempted by all
these is very natural and therefore, understandable.
We reached there at
around 3 pm and spent some time on the bank of Atlantic Ocean. There were many
out there on the beach. Then for a couple of hours, we roamed around the city
from one end to the other. There the life actually starts after sunset and it continues
till dawn. There was festive mood everywhere and streets were crowded with men
and women most of them wearing sexy fashionable dresses (that was from my point
of view but for them, it was their normal dress!).

After light dinner,
we proceeded to our next destination, a Casino. We had a very memorable
experience when we entered the casino.
A beautiful young
woman, who was drunk, embraced all of us. She was brimming with joy because she
had earned few bucks from gambling. There were a gang with her and all were
drunk. They were not exception. Almost everyone there were drunk. They were
there for that only!
Inside that
Casino, I saw all kinds of gambling. Few friends started gambling. Two of them
lost $50 each within no time and they stopped. Third one played for almost 2
hours and he gained $15 and he was, like that young lady who had embraced us,
brimming with joy. But that happiness was momentary but the loss of two others
were not and therefore, their despair was clearly visible on their face rest of
our journey. That is all about Casino!
While my friend was doing gambling, one young lady who was ninety nine per cent naked started singing and many gathered around her. They were all more interested in her hot curvy body.
It was almost midnight then and I reminded others about it. They had no plan to listen to me but I was adamant on our return soon.

Night life in Atlantic City: Life and even night is beautiful here |
That
is a different world altogether. But I have a problem even while spending and
enjoying time in places like that, some other pictures like the one below come
into my mind without my permission. And when I compare these two extreme
happenings on the same planet, earth, I feel like all those who are living such
luxurious life in the so-called western countries are terrorists because their
life style kills millions of children even before they could see this beautiful
planet every year. Frankly speaking, I don't see any difference between what
ISIS and these irresponsible westerners are doing.
But outwardly, we become upset when we see the brutal killings by ISIS because what they are doing
is clearly visible before our eyes like chopping of head, stoning to death, burning alive etc
but unfortunately, we don't mind or simply ignore the death of millions of
children and infants every year due to poverty and malnutrition mainly due to unequal wealth distribution, we are the culprits and therefore, responsible, because their
death bring no threat in our life and moreover, it never gets the much needed media attention.
Most of the time, we come to know about it through a UN Report on it or a small
news item somewhere in the last page of the news paper.
Isn't this silence deliberate? I strongly feel so. They are left dying unattended by you all so that you can continue with your luxurious life. It has nothing to do with that natural theory of survival of the fittest because what will remain in the end is you and you are not the fittest because your lifestyle has made you the most vulnerable creatures on earth who has to depended on everything every time for survival. What is shocking is the fact that you are not worried about even your own coming generations and consume their share of wealth for your luxury and therefore, they will be the worst hit when they visit this planet.
A scene from Kerala, India: Life is not beautiful to many. |
I am writing this blog not to narrate our trip
to Atlantic City but to tell certain things to Barack Obama. Before leaving
India after his visit to attend Republic Day parade as Chief Guest, he argued
that India had an obligation to curb greenhouse gases despite its economic
challenges.
I have no doubt about it. I would like to expand
its horizon by saying that if these so-called developed and developing
countries continue their irresponsible and insensitive stand on the threat of
climate change, global warming and other such natural calamities (due to human
activities) and prefer agree to disagree on these issues like the one happened in
Copenhagen Summit in 2009, it is better if we extinct so that the rest of the
living beings as well as those unknown tribes who are still leading a natural
way of life in places like Amazon forest may survive longer.
However, Obama has no right to tell countries
like India, where millions of people are living under poverty line, about their
obligation. Before doing that, he has to look within his own country and the
life style of those who live there. Atlantic city is not an exception. You
can see such irresponsible life almost everywhere in the USA. I had seen it in
New York, the heart of the USA, and New Jersey, the two places I had visited during my visit.
I am not saying that you should not enjoy life. I
say you must enjoy it especially because unlike what you all believe, I am sure
that there is no life after death and therefore, we all must enjoy life to the
fullest before we die. But why should you all spend the whole night in strip
clubs and casinos which is in fact will gradually create problems on your body
and health? I say you spend three or four hours there and then go home and
sleep well. By doing so, you are giving adequate rest to your body and mind
and then you will save some bucks. That saving is enough to feed those
hapless children die due to poverty and malnutrition elsewhere on this planet.
There are two important points I would like to
remind you all here. First one is, what I said just now that you should do is
not a favor from your side but it is a fundamental right of each and every
child irrespective of their nationality or race. If you are not giving to them
their dues, that itself is enough to label you as terrorists. First mend your
ways and then teach other countries about their obligations.
Before telling the second point, I would like to
tell you that some of your statements after sworn in as the President were simply superb and those comments
were proof of your in-depth understanding of democracy and its
principles. Let me tell you a couple of such statements. One you said while
addressing the nation after becoming the President first time and that was an
assurance to Republicans. That statement was somewhat like this,
"Though you voted against me, I am your President too and therefore, I
will work for you too...." This has paramount importance in Democracy.
Unfortunately, Indian leaders don't know about this all important democratic principle and
therefore, here in India, there is no Indian Prime Minister but BJP Prime
Minister or Congress Prime Minister!
Second statement is the one you said very
recently. When someone told you that it is your last term and therefore, you
have no chance to contest election, your response was somewhat like this,
"I know. I have no more campaigns to run. My only agenda for the next two
years is the same as the one I have had since the day I swore and oath on the
steps of this Capitol - to do what I believe is best for America." It
shows that your agenda is not your welfare but the welfare of the people. It
must be like this and I appreciate you for doing so. Again in India, leaders
are doing anything keeping the next election in mind. They do nothing for the
welfare of the people but for their own welfare!
But though you were talking every now and then
about change, your vision was narrow in that respect because your vision had
borders and therefore, you could bring changes only in the USA. I emphatically
say that when we talk about democracy, we must expand its horizon, I mean a
kind of global democracy where all those who lead an honest life will have a
chance to enjoy life. That is because we are neither superior nor inferior to others
and that is my second point.
You know Obama, though it was you who were
talking about change every now and then, it is Bill Gates who is doing his
best to bring the actual change and he was successful in bringing smiles on
more faces. On the other hand, you came to India and met Prime Minister, who is not as good as people think (I am not saying this based on what happened in Gujarat but based on his and his party BJP's use of religion to obtain power which will create havoc in this country) who is pro-rich and all the business tycoons here, that too twice. Don't you see your actions contradicting your big fat statements, you just another business man?
I would like to end this blog by reminding all
Americans, Europeans and those rich elite class who are leading a luxurious and
irresponsible life while millions of hapless children and infants die elsewhere
on this planet that you are all not superior to those who die due to your
lifestyle and those who are yet to come that is the coming generations. Yes, we
can, Obama but for bringing that change we must introspect first which will
help us to have an all inclusive global vision. Yes, we can, I am
optimistic.
